ACTIVITIES / WHATS ON - Ballito & Durban, KZN

With miles of beautiful beaches at hand, sure, there's plenty of great surf and sunbathing spots to choose from... but there's more to Ballito than surf and sand!

For a start there's a host of great cafes, restaurants, bars and shopping centers.

There's the awesome Crocodile Creek, giving you a chance to get up close and personal with some Crocodiles.

How about a Micro light flight over Ballito's sugar cane fields and golden beaches - truly an amazing experience with a chance of seeing it all with a bird's eye view... and you never know, you may even spot a Turtle, Whale or Dolphins swimming in the clear azure ocean.

Of course, being coastal there's often a good cross-on-shore breeze, which makes for ideal Kite Surfing territory.
Monkeybay can organize local Kitesurfing lessons for you, from IKO Qualified Instructors, and whet
her a beginner or more experienced, there's something for you.
There's also a great, flat-water lagoon not far away for beginner courses.
A full IKO course may last up to week and will have you happily kitesurfing by the end.

For some culture, there's a fabulous museum 10 minutes away that's well worth a visit!

Ballito is also very well placed for visiting neighboring hot spots, like Durban and Umhlanga with both only being 30 and 20 mintues away, by car, respectively.

Of course, heading north or inand, not far away you've got the beautiful Midlands Meander and Drakensburg Mountains, as well as Big 5 National Parks, where you'll find some of Africa's most majestic animals.

There's too much to mention here, so get down to MONKEY BAY BACKPACKERS, chat to the owner and get solid, sound, tailor-made advice and tips.

Monkeybay can help arrange all your adventures for you and may get special rate in some instances.
